Faculty & Staff - Kathleen Bell
I research the spatial and temporal dynamics of land-use change by building economic models to describe landscapes. My FBRI research addresses interactions among changes in the forest products industry, landowner decisions, and regional land-use change.
In Other Words
I generate maps describing future landscapes – a picture is worth a 1000 words. Maine’s landscape is undergoing tremendous change, including changes in land use and land ownership. Developing tools to predict future landscapes enables us to visualize and better understand these changes.
